Dd (6) cannot yet be fully assessed for high functioning ASD (although it is suspected) as speech and language cannot fully assess at present due to Selective Mutism.

She is being referred to SM SALT specialist and we regroup with Paed after a significant period of settling in into year 2 - so poss next year. They said it may become more apparent in next couple of years.

Obv it's about meeting her needs.

We are having a terrible time with clothing/shoes and being set in her ways about what she wears and of course the sensory side. She doesn't like the feel of clothing/socks/sandals/shoes.
Also hair too and she has so much of it , all over the place! Doesn't like anything in her hair.

We are struggling with her aggression too and mood swings. :-(

Has she had an assessment by a sensory OT yet?

I don't think so. The Paed is aware of sensory issues though....? Should she have one? I know School wrote to her to emphasise the sensory side recently and said a sensory diet may be put together but nothing has come of it yet. I forgot to mention at the appointment

It took over 2 yrs of assessment to get my middle dc diagnosed as he presents great 1:1 on the surface with new people. But falls apart in groups/school so he needed quite a few assessments and observations.

I found asd charity's to be of more help then he eventual diagnosis tbh. Only thing diagnosis did was to make school sit up and take notice

School are great but they feel she is coping and I feel as though they perhaps see me as struggling or neurotic!

She copes but it is hard for her. They do help her but I don't think they can see the full picture obviously.

I would definitely try for an OT assessment. For us they've been the most useful professional by far.
