Our EHCP review date was 7th March. We did not attend due to political reasons. What is the next step? I thought the County was supposed to write to us for Parents View I was of the understanding that it would progress within a certain legal time frame. When should we expect out next correspondence from the County?

I was expecting an updated EHCP.

Was I supposed to have received updated IEP’s too? The only information we have received is a SALT report and CAPP’s progress report. We do not know where he is in terms against the National Curriculum.

I look forward to receiving this information.

I'm a bit bemused by the nature of the political reasons that might have prevented you from attending. It's really hard to do a review without the parents present and it will affect the quality of the EHCP produced. The review really is your chance to share your views and hear the views of others, and if there's disagreement it can be taken from there. I would have thought your best next step is to contact your child's caseworker who can let you know what is happening next. In the meantime, if you want to know how your child is progressing, simply give the SENCO a call and ask for that information. It's worth a try I would have thought.

If the meeting went ahead in your absence it is the school's duty to send you a copy of the meeting record which would detail any requested amendments to the EHCP. The school will also send a copy to the local authority. If amendments were requested you will receive an amended draft EHCP for your comments before it is finalised. If no amendments were requested the local authority should issue a no change letter.
The school should inform you and give you copies of updated IEPs if that is their process and school will have information related to attainment levels. It is likely that his progress in terms of attainment will have been recorded in the meeting record however it is up to the school how this is measured as they no longer use national curriculum levels.
I would contact the SENCo at school to ask for a copy of the meeting record and confirmation of when it was sent to the local authority. Then follow up with the case officer.
