Just wanted to share something positive. DS (10) has been taking Intuniv for a month now. Went to clinic yesterday and consultant really pleased in the improvement. Hyperactivity, impulsivity all decreased. He couldnt even complete a QB test last year and this time he sat through it all with minimal fidgeting and concentrated really well. A have at last got a calm family life. This is such a great med for children who can't tolerate the stimulants and have autistic traits

Thanks for this. What is the meaning of 'can't tolerate' if you don't mind me asking. My child is week 11 of ritalin and having pretty dreadful crashes in the evenings including being violent. Now pre-meds he had this temper but now it is like clockwork in the evenings. Maybe a half hour of rage minimum every day. Otherwise the medication works brilliantly during the day. Is that considered normal or not tolerating? Going to psychiatrist this week anyway but just curious. thank you.

Not tolerating for our son was when trying stimulant medication he was crying and I'm a rage, so bad had to be held down then taken to emergency appt at children's clinic. Other medication he tried was strattera. He became terribly pale and violent

C artooner I would say that a reaction like that shows med isn't working. Is this slow release like Equasym?

Um, interesting. We ran out of our 30mg LA capsules and had to give 20 for two days and then he was all over the place in the evening. We had issues earlier on with him rgrabbing a knife in a rage but as it didn't happen again we thought it had settled. Would a change in dose upset?

The issue is with the HF ASD he was already prone to rages so it's hard to differentiate between on meds and off in terms of intensity. It's so confusing.
