Visitors and removing of clothes

Dd becomes very busy when we have visitors over, particularly strangers. For example, just had a workman over to give us a quote...Dd has been partially dressed for part of the day, just in top and knickers. I mentioned she needs to be dressed when workman comes over, which she was...but the moment he arrived she undressed (keeping underwear on) and put dress up dress on, removed it and was just in knickers. I tried to get her to put dressing gown on and she was lying in bed next min (we were all in her room). Fussing over clothing, lights etc and just in knickers. She knows about keeping private and repeats that to me after incident where boy tried to look at her private parts (they're 5).

What is driving this behaviour? It's common in Autism isn't it?

Dd now sat beside me...in only knickers!!!

Uh oh. You have my sympathy. I've lost count of the number of times DS has run into my daughter's singing lesson wearing nothing but the bubbles from his bath. Will your little girl engage with a social story or comic strip conversation? I work in schools and we've had success with a social story about this in the past, especially if there's a nice, simple and visual representation.

Yes, think I'll look into social story, thanks.

Dd is not diagnosed, under assessment at moment. Is your DD on the spectrum?

DS isn't on the spectrum ( he has some soft signs, but not the core traits). But he has other special needs and can be very disinhibited. He just doesn't tank about the impact of his behaviour on himself and others at times, and gets carried away. We have had success with social stories for him. Social Stories work nicely for lots of children who benefit from a but of additional, structure and explanation.

My dc with lives his pants. Will happily walk around all day and play in the garden in his pants. His 4 yr old brother follows suit now. On his big brother with adhd wears a on sie as he feels the cold. We compromise on swum shorts
