My dd is 7.5 and has AS/Adhd.
Since half term her concentration is becoming an increasing problem and some slight behaviour difficulties.
I don't want to keep upping the meds when I think anxiety is at the root of the problem.
Are there any specific things dietary I can do to help?
She takes eskimo oil and 10 mg Ritalin a day.

Try to keep things really simple. For example only feed her natural foods, with no preservatives flavering etc.

For example fruit, veg, meat, fish, dairy.

Once you have eliminated all other foodstuffs give her system a break for a few days before slowley reintroducing oine thing at a time. Ie. cereals in teh first week. fruit squash teh second week, pasta the third.

That way if she reacts to anything in particular you will know what it is and know to leave it out of her diet.

I've got a book called 'Optimum Nutrition For the Mind' by Patrick Holford which has chapters covering all areas of emotional and mental health for adults and children. He has some very interesting advice about diet and supplements - might be helpful?

Hi BH, hope you and dd are well!!!
Have you been on to the AIA site think it is Allergy induced Autism, they have a fab cook book out too. Also one of things I have only just realised with dd this year, is that some of her behaviours seem linked to her blood sugar levels, ie, very hyper/stimmy before/after meals or if she is hungry, so not necessarily the food she is eating but how her blood sugar levels impact on her behaviours, may be worth taking into account!
