My little boy was diagnosed with ASD/social communication disorder and is being tested for ADHD too.
I was holding off claiming DLA for him but decided to put in a claim on 31st January. Rang today for an update to find he has been awarded lower rate care and mobility. I am glad he's been offered something so I can replace all his broken bedroom furniture I'm just abit miffed it's lower. Am i right in thinking this totals to 42.60 a week? Also regarding backdating will it be 3 weeks of 42.80 or 7 weeks as he would recieve his first payment anyway. Can someone enlighten me

You might stuggle to qualify for night issues if it's night terrors and not him physically waking and getting out of bed

I also mentioned about the support ds gets at school which is important for school age children.

So ds needs x amount of support in order to manage the school environment. After school is so overwhelmed by the sensory environment I have to ...... in order to prevent him self harming.

It's true it's all in the wording. Why you do what you do and the consequences of everyday demands that you'd put on a 6 yo.

You won't lose the money you have already been getting you will definitely get more, put down a worse case scenario Day!

I'm slowly loosing the will to live!! He's getting so bad, he won't sleep. He's had an alarm clock going off for the past 10 minutes banging a drum to the beat seems like it helps him abit but how annoying!

I know the feeling all to well! We have that "daddy finger daddy finger where are you" on repeat all day in different languages and different characters! It's so annoying but now I don't hear it! New people come to the house and are like, please turn that off haha but we are oblivious now!!!

I have 2 boys asd, one loves to make noise and the other is scared of it and wears ear defenders, I spend my day torn between the 2 😂😂

For those saying the award will definitely go up rather than lose it .... that's not true.

Ds was getting mrc, lrm. Renewal came and he was awarded mrc only. I asked for mandatory reconsideration ... whole award taken away! I'm now waiting for my appeal court date. Sad

My form had so much detail of ds needs that I honestly can't understand how they've made their decision. I'm arranging help for my tribunal appeal.

It's a joke at times. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops like this.
Hope it works out OP.

Can't believe that happened?! How disgusting to take it all away? What's his disability if you don't mind saying?

Briefly, Ds has hypermobility, Sensory Processing disorder (which includes visual processing difficulties/facial blindness), asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety. He had an asd assessment, we were told he didn't tick one box so couldn't have a dx ... he doesn't mix with other children, won't go outside/play area/park etc if other children are there. Has social/communication issues but asd assessors seem to have a one track classic symptoms mindset here so we're on a highway to nothing. Ds uses various aids and medications for his conditions. My form was so detailed with the extra care and support ds needs. The reconsideration was based on one phone call to his new school ...

We're just hoping they see sense at our appeal.
