Don't know whether to LAUGH or CRY?

At teatime my 3 boys were sat at the table and all hell broke lose.

My NT(?) son Alex screamed and i ran into the room not knowing what to expect...but thought one of the other 2 (autistic) would have played a part.....however they were sat ther looking petrified by his scream and i managed to get out of him that he'd bit his finger.

Leigh jumped out of his seat and hurtled to see what was what (knowing him he probably expected to see a piece of finger hanging of due to his 'taking things literally' ....and i was just about to praise him for what appeared to be a demonstration of empathy and concern when ALEX punched LEIGH in the face and told him to "GO AWAY"

This absoulutely threw me- and i then had to console Leigh- who was then hysterical too.....as you know i am concerned with Alex's behaviour at the moment as being similar to what i've seen with my first son...however this type of violence is new to me-

when all was quiet i did still praise leigh...who i am now also having to persuade that this was a 'one off' and he should still try to show empathy....as he now thinks he's best to not bother. (incidentally i had to 'teach' leigh to say sorry....and have noticed i am having to teach Alex to 'accept' sorry etc when leogh and him have fought in the past)

i also talked to alex-- he said that he didn't want leigh to look at him. he would not apolgise.

help!

I know that in this house if anyone bumps/hurts themselves dh (AS?) automatically grabs hold of the sore finger/presses on the bruise with all the sensitivity of a rhino. Despite me telling him hundreds/thousands of times not to do this he still does. He just doesn't get that what to him is showing concern is actually pretty painful for the rest of us! Now if I've hurt myself and dh comes lumbering into view the temptation is to do exactly what Alex did, accompanied by an extremely annoyed, "GERROFF!" Was Leigh ever a 'grabber' like this? If so it might be why Alex lashed out. Poor Leigh though.

Ta!

lokking at it differently now as wondered if alex even felt embarressed when he did it....as noticed that he hates being 'looked at' when he uses the toilet, falls over etc
