A question about special schools

This is for those of you who have children at special schools, especially children with ASD. Which of these schools would you choose, if you had to do so?

School 1: Lots of children very similar to your own child, with a good number of kids who are more verbal and social (ie good role models). Teaching OK but not outstanding.

School 2: Most children have more severe difficulties than your child. Not as much interaction between them. Teaching outstanding.

???????
I know it's a hard question but would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

Thanks Peachy. One of the important things I think is that school 1 has excellent links with the primary and secondary schools and the college.

Now, Strode college is very academic- I would guess that Sn kids go to Yeovil or Bridgwater when they get to 16 unless they're doing A-Levels

Yeovil is OK, Bridgwater College is one of the best ranked FE colleges in the UK- and their SN provision is fantastic, it really is. I have done 5 years at Bridgwater for various things (and just been re-enrolled for an NVQ by my FIL LOL), some of which has involved interacting with the SN students, and their care / education is imo top notch

Peachy, do you think Bridgwater College would be a good place to advertise for tutors for DS2's home programme? BIBIC suggested it - they've had some of their students working there and have been very impressed.

Yes definitely.

Also, I don't know if it will work because I am not sure where theya re all based- but the Uni local to me does an MA in ASD, they finish their course in a few weeks, maybe advertise there? You might be V V lucky (I'd like to do the MA in 2008, depends on funding, might need to do something I can get paid to do, iyswim)

Also, if you want volunteers let me know- I can post something on the carnival website, loads fo them live in Street area, but at the same time they're all known to me and DH. can't guarantee anything but worth a try
