when I last had a chat with the head at Ellies special needs school (she does 3 days there and 2 days at mainstream with a 1-1)

we talked about mainstream and she said that I wasn't thinking of putting Ellie in full time was I?

I said No, not at the moment, she is not ready for it

she said "good, as I would have a problem with that and would have to get an Education Psychologist in"

so would that mean the Ed Psyc could say, "no, main stream would not be good for her full time"????????? and she couldnt go?

I am not putting her in mainstream fulltime at the moment!! But I do think about it. I just thought it was a funny thing for the Head (who is really lovely) to say.

she obviously thinks Ellie shouldnt be in mainstream ful time, so could an Ed Psyc put a stop to it??

Ellies mainstream teacher can't understand why she is in SN School and not in her class fulltime!!!!!

As you can imagine, I'm a bit confused lol

Thanks, sorry for waffling!!!

Oh honey, sorry I can't help, just wanted to stop by and send some hugs!!

I am still struggling to get a statement for Amelia (and classroom support) so as you can imagine, my head is all over the place as to whether or not MS is actually the right place for her!!

Hope it all works out!!!{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}

Thanks

Ellie has had a statement since she was about 2 and a a half

I am just confused to what the ED Psyc was going to do...put a stop to it (if we wanted full time main stream full time)

it is so hard to know where she should be

I don't think her SN is pushing her enough

I took her today and no one even came over to take her or say hello, as 3 of them were feeding other children (tube fed)

Don't get me wrong, of course they have to be fed!! But then no one came and saw to Ellie

Going off subject now!!!

Not sure Annie!!! We have only just manged to get an EP to see Amelia, and her report was rather vague TBH.

I know each child is different, but it did concern me about the lack of consistency when Amelia was at both SN and MS nursery.

Saying that the chance to have a bit of both now would seem a blessing considering how little support she has at MS at the moment.

Surely that decision couldn't be made by the EP alone, it would be a major change in her statementing wouldn't it?

anniebear · 13/02/2007 12:08

sorry meant her sn school isnt pushing her enough

How do her MS school feel about it?

What is the support like at her MS school? Not just how many hours, what's their attitude and ability like?

I do really need to go and talk to some one in confidence, but it is the confidence that worries me!!

I remember telling our portage woker something then the head knew about it!!! lol

The Haed of the SN school is lovely and has ben a great suppoort to me

I couldnt go and tell her all my worries about school though!

mainstream is fab at the mo, it is just so lovely to beable to drop both the girls off together

her teacher is lovely (had to have a chat recently as Grace was having to take Ellie to the toilet and wipe her nose etc whilst the 1-1 was having her lunch)

But apart from that, it is really good, but.......... and it's a big but!!!!......

SN school provide Ellies 1-1 for mainstream, and Ellies Teacher at SN school has set her stuff to do at Mainstream

the teacher is so nice (but obviously she would change in sep) and loves Ellie to bits (another teacher told me!!!) But you can see she does anyway!!

recently year 1 took the assembly and she wanted Ellie to take part as well

so she got Ellie to introduce the assembly!!

Ellie went to the front on her own and said "good morning everyone and welcome to year 1's assembly"!!!

and yes, me and my friend had to get our tissues out!!!

the teacher is often showing me web sites or giving me idea's of things to do with Ellie

SN head could be thinking ahead though to junior/senior age when she may need to be in SN school?Ed psych seems strange thing to say though

anniebear · 14/02/2007 07:20

Thanks

Would be lovely to just drop her off at school each morning like I do Grace and not worry about anything!!!!!

Annie, Don't know if this will help. But DD who's in a Mainstream Sschool in SEN base, has has an Ed Psych since she was 3. DD could go to SN school, but it wasn't an option with the Ed department coz it is an 1 hours drive. My DD has 1 to 1 support, but no statement yet. Apparenetly (sp?) there is no rush as she is getting everything she needs already?????
I don't think there is a problem or a reason for getting the ED Psych involved, maybe they need to get more support if Ellie went to Mainstream full time. And they need to be involved from early on because things take so long to organise.

The only thing is she actually said if I was thinking of full time mainstream that "she wouldn't be happy and would have to get an Ed Psyc in"

Like she would have some say in advising against Ellie going to mainstream full time
