Dropping Spanish in year 7?

Ds is profoundly dyslexic and finds all subjects a struggle. I don't see the point of him doing Spanish because he has enough problems with English! He has literally zero understanding of the language and I think it's a total waste of time and unecessary stress. I'm going to put it to the senco that he is taken out of this class.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience/success with taking their dc out of a subject?

I expect you have already dealt with this, but having wandered in thought I'd reply.

We got a dyspraxia diagnosis for DD1 in y11 just before her mocks. When we got the mocks back she had bombed on history and English. We discussed with the school and it was agreed for her to drop History. She had to not talk about it to others (in case it encouraged others to ask to drop things) and she went to the learning Support room during history lessons to work independently.

So to drop something in y7 I think you would have to convince them that a) DS was really not going to learn anything useful
b) More importantly where would he go, how would he be supervised, what would he do in the Spanish lessons.

Would your child learn better with s format like Rosetta Stone so using visual, kinetic and auditory learning?

We have the same problem. Not dyslexic but myriad of other issues. Spanish is terrible.
Use visual learning and massive improvement. But the unwillingness to change is astonishing.

I would love to know the outcome of your problem.
