SN trikes-does your child have one?

I want to get out this summer with my kids-ds can cycle a bike with stabilisers but is too big for that bike now and I'm thinking a SN trike would do the job.

Thing is, I've found specialist ones for £1500, refurbished ones for £500 and then one for £170 new from an online seller. Why is there such a massive difference in price and if I buy the cheaper one will it be useless?

I can't afford more than £200 but I don't want to waste my money. Ds doesn't need any harness or back support.

Anyone know a bit about trikes?

zzzzz do you know where you can get bigger stabilisers from? My ds physio suggested a trike but ds wants a 'proper' bike. His current stabilisers don't stabilise his bike enough and he could also do with a bigger bike. I've seen stabilisers for adult bikes but not intermediate ones that would fit a 7-10 year olds bike.

You are right zzzzz it does make the choice a little simpler!

I am worried (not without good reason) that DS will take one look at a trike and refuse to even sit on it. I have looked for bigger stabilisers without success though so I'll probably just go for it and take deep breaths when he doesn't bloody use it!

My dream is to cycle ride to our local KFC as we can ride through a housing estate and pavement it all the way. Plus DS won't leave his room unless he's on a serious promise for foodGrin.

Are you able to find a local inclusive cycling club, our local one has a range of bikes/trikes which you can try out for a few hours. mght help to decide what would work.

I was looking round last summer for options. DSs was getting to big for the tag along so we were looking at kiddyback tandems.. With a tandem you don't really feel like you have to tow them though, the extra pedaling makes a big difference up hills. He can ride but I'm still keeping a look out, steering and indeed braking are still a work in progress!

I did find a couple of places selling stabilizers for older kids. It says from 20" wheel, which is what my 9 year old has at the moment.

would help if I posted the link www.bikecare.co.uk/adult_stabilisers.html

Various charities will help with the cost of SN trikes.
