SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Had a tentative dx of dyspraxia from the new OT today.

Her first proper session with ds4 today. He was on great form and completly charmed her.
She says he displays many classic dyspraxic signs.

Would fit with the family history of major dyslexia and learning probs.

Need to go make tea but would love to hear any advice or be directed to any good websites or books.

Try Developmental Dyspraxia by Madeleine Portwood (she has several similar books out). Also Dyspraxia Foundation and Dyscovery centre

Megalegs

How do you feel about this news?

I gave mum2aaron a book hich includes a lot of dyspraxia advice, maybe she can give you a few tips or the reference?

I found the book that Lizs recommended is very useful.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone.

Peachy- it's weird but I'm actually feeling quite positive which seems a strange response to 'bad'news. I think it's because the OT has confirmed what DH and I had been thinking. Also as I watch ds make progress and get stronger I worry less that what he has is degenerative.

I guess I'm relieved to finally be able to say "He has dyspraxia" when people ask rather than list his symptoms.

Saying that, it's not a definate dx but the OT said, that in her experience he is displaying the classic signs of a child with dyspraxia.

How are you feeling today after your news yesterday?
