Post 16 SEN transport payment contribution

Letter today stating from Sept there will be a charge of £510 (£255 if income below 16K) . Does anyone contribute to transport for their post 16 young person and by what amount? Thanks.

I pay £37.50 for 10 months here in Birmingham. We have hardly any money these days. Now my DS is 18 on October I will have to pay towards respite too .

No - the placement is named in her EHC plan, and it's the only one that can meet all her needs. (It's accepted that she will never be able to travel independently)

My DS will never travel independently either but I still need to pay.

£510 each academic year. SoleBizz, are you paying £375 a year? Will your son not get an increase in direct payments when he is 18 to meet his respite costs?

We do not get direct payments. Social services pay for hos respite which Al comes to an end this October as he will be 29. No other respite available. The list is really long. Could be two year wait.

Have adult social care assessed him for the move to adult services at 18? If you stand to lose your respite you should get a personal budget or direct payment instead to organise something.

No. Everybody is being ignored by SS no matter what I or school say or do to a tract their atteniton.
