Piedro boots

Went to a meeting last night with other mothers with children who have DS and mentioned the non-walking/standing thing with Lotbags and they suggested I ask my physio team for Piedro (sp) boots for her.

What do you girls know / think about them?

someone on ebay in belgium is selling piedro sandals at the moment - sizes 20 and 21 for about £16!!!!
they are on ebay.co.uk
just do a search under piedro

Ooooh! the orthotics dept has agreed a special dispensation that DS can have sandals AS WELL as his boots! (the physio wrote a note on his file that she thought his feet would get hot - and it seems to have done the trick!).
The bad news is that it was DP who took him to the appointment, and he has chosen the only hideous looking ones...aaaargh!

Hiya

Well I took her to the appointment, mentioned the boots and pysio said, ohh good idea ran straight off to get a tape measure, we all laughed at how tiny her feet are exactly, 12cms at the longest from heel to 'big' toe and 5 cms at widest. She said that someone upstairs would be in touch to make appt to get them fitted so ....

good Grin my daughter used to have little feet too, once. Now they are just long and thin

That sounds good, Thomcat.

I'm new to the Piedro boots thing and just got an appointment at the orthotics dept today. I 'think' to go and collect DS's piedro boots next Thursday!
Not really sure what to expect? He's been measured a week and a half ago - I expect this is to actually bring the boots home?? Will they be watching him walk in them and stuff?

slightlymad · 10/06/2004 12:07

Just thought i'd add - there are some brand new Piedro boots for sale by an English seller in size 30 on ebay at the moment - starting at £1.99!! This is my first attempt at a link so it may not work - but they are here

yes they will just try them on him SM. 1 and half weeks is good. I have hhad to wait 6 weeks for ours sometimes

Just wanted to say that DS got his Piedro Boots yesterday! It hasn't been so hard as I imagined! He wore them for the recommended hour yesterday, and has worn them for 2 hours today. They left some slight red marks - but nothing major - so we are on for the 3 hour stretch tomorrow!! So far so good!
One question though - does anyone here have the navy boots? That is what I got for DS and they are like a close nubuck type material - that close that they are almost leather (Navy with light blue down the back) I was expecting them to be just leather. They are appearing to be really easy to scuff - and I was wondering what you use to keep them in good condition!?!? I have got a leather restorer gel - some spray and some polish from Clarks - but none seem to describe the type of leather properly?!?
