DLA Appeal Tribunal - Advice needed!!

Has anyone ever been to a DLA appeal tribunal?

Do I need to take dd with me (she's 10)? Her medical problems are 'hidden' apart from a minor limb disability, and I don't feel that her being there will have a positive impact on the case. Also she gets anxious/depressed about her problems and I would really like to avoid putting her through it. Would they want to speak to her directly?

Any advise gratefully received. Thanks

I don't have any experience but I would guess that your daughter wouldn't need to go. They will be more interested in the medical reports I think.

Hopefully someone with direct experience will be along soon.

I think RexandBen went to one recently. I have no advice but I am sure davros will know - she is good at this stuff!

Hope it all goes wellSmile

no rexandben went to an education tribunal.

Are you getting advice from anyone? They would probably be the best to ask....

Back off to the Citizens Advice tomorrow Jimjams......just in panic mode at the moment and was seriously doubting whether to see it through.

I will though - at the end of the day there's nothing to lose is there?

go for it luckymum. i doubt your dd needs to be there. but with heart problems (i have got the right child here havent i?) getting DLA is a nightmare. it took 7months for dh, in the end i dont know why they changed their minds, but he was awarded it after 3 applications and going to appeal last year, didnt have to do that this time. best of luck.

luckymum · 27/05/2004 08:49

Hi misdee - yes that's us. Did you go to an oral hearing with your dh last year? We've been advised to go for oral rather than paper as they are supposed to be more succesful.

I see you've changed your name back.....are you less 'mad' these days

more like i'm going crazy. yeah dh went to oral hearing, i didnt go with him but his dad did. they still turned him down.

I appealed a decision but not at court only on paper.I was advised to answer all the questions presenting the worst case scenario of my symptoms.Apparently I didn't give enough detail to start.I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and I get max allowance for getting around and minimum for personal care.Answer all questions as if you are having the worst day NOT the average

I don't know anything about DLA tribunal, only educational and only then second hand. Sorry!
