So said a long lost friend on seeing a video of ds1. I thought the video showed him at his very best and most interactive. Actually it does.

I think you're in the same reality as me Fio PMSL so probably! She did say he looked cute as well! I think she was just shocked by the autism, never really having come across it before. I should invite her to the next SLD school concert shouldn't I?

I know a lady who's ds is autistic (she herself is a SEN LSA). She got told exatctly the same thing by another SEN contact . Makes you wonder. LOL at the invite to the SLD school concert.

My daughter has been quite ill recently and all the doctors in hospital have referred to her as having COMPLEX needs. Where as in my mind, I thought we were more mild to moderate! I guess we just dont see our children as others see them, because to us they are all just typical children....

I teach a young man with ASD. He is in the sixth form and I have been honest with them about DH's illness and my reasons for a somewhat protracted 'leave' from work. He has contacted me almost daily to see how I am, and organed some others to send me a beautiful Teddy to cheer me up. He informed me the Teddy is called Squamous Epiltilium.

Very, very , very special!

Christie.

I've also found that a lot of things I think that ds1 does that are funnny others are horrified.

I've recounted this on mumsnet before but we had long lost friends visiting - ds1 for some reason started trying to sniff my mums' bottom- honestly he was like a dog. She was running away and he was following, we had tears streaming down our faces from laughing so much. One of our friends has worked with autistic children for years and he was laughing his head off, but his wife was looking absolutely horrified.

He's just had a paddy in a national trust shop- the woman behind the till was great- I was trying to pay her whilst grabbing him and made a comment about needing more hands- but the 2 other customers in the shop really couldn't cope with the screaming. It is only screaming (and for a limited time), also struck me how its something I barely notice.

Isn't it fab!

DD insists that he should be Seamus!

I did wonder MB

Fio- the women in the shop were tutting and gasping and saying "oh my goodness" repeatedly. Very odd I thought! OK he's loud but its still only noise.

Not sure whats worse, the 'OMG look at that child behaving like that' or the 'poor little darlings' attitudes.
Its amazing how many people want to work at a SN school because of the 'poor little darlings' -they never last long
