has she got a statement?

I presume this isnt a 'new' concern?

there is a SN section on mumsnet by the way My daughter has GDD and hypotonia and is 7yrs old, she is globally about 3 yrs.

I dont know about the reflex thing. She walks I take it?

ive always known about the gdd hypotonia but this reflex thing was discovered last week. she is getting a formal assessment soon, but it was supposed to be done last year. im wanting her out of her present school and put to a local school with a learning base as i dont feel they can give her the support and understanding that she needs where she is. yes she is walking although she falls a lot and staggers like me after a nite on the tiles! lol

heavenlycara,

What sort of formal assessment is planned, is this a visit from the Ed pysch or someone else?.

Re school, you can yourself apply to the LEA asking for your DD to be assessed. Do not wait for school to do it as you'll wait an eternity. If you write to the LEA and they say no you can appeal. School themselves cannot. IPSEA are very good in this regard and there are model letters you can use.

Hi there, do you mind if i ask where abouts you are in Scotland? My daughter is nearly 6 too, she has hypotonia and a gdd. All of her refelx actions are very much delayed, but the school she attends - Craighalbert in Cumbernauld, helps the kids gain these skills and helps her with her walking for which she uses a kaye walker. Do get in touch if youre in the central belt or would like more information as Craighalbert have a saturday group which would be able to offer some support to you.....
