Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Where are you finding all you need to know about EHCPs?

The titles says it all. Unexpectedly the LEA is going to assess my DD for an EHCP rather than making us stumble along on a statement which was totally out of date. This is good, but arrrgh, eek, I know nothing about EHCPs! I've used IPSEA advice in the past, but their EHCP stuff mainly seems to be a £79 e learning. Is this worth doing? It is really so complicated that a 10 module training course is required? Is there a free idiots guide out there?
Thanks for any help.

This one's partly lifted from sossen, partly tongue in cheek.

I have been to a couple of free courses, one was run my local autism charity and the other by a local special school, they both had the same speaker who is an education lawyer and very knowledgable!

Do you attend any local support groups? They are often quite good at signposting to courses and stuff.

Good luck Flowers

I went to a free course run by the local SEN Network. Also contact SCOPE, they have legally trained independent advisors that make sure the LEA follows the new code of practice when writing the EHCP, they're free too.

Thanks MeirAya - that's a good starting point (and it made me laugh!).
No, Ineedmore my DD doesn't 'fit' any groups (she has a 1 in a million thing) and doesn't have good enough health to get to groups. That's not a 'woe is me' response from me- just that I'm 100% reliant on web and charity phone line support.
Thanks Quirkychick. I hadn't realised that Scope has such a wide ranging support. I'll look into what they can offer.
Thanks everyone ??

I found 'special needs jungle ' online very very good

SOS SEN are doing some workshops about it. If you can get there it's probably more helpful than an online course because you can ask questions.
