Who are you giving Christmas Prezzies to - therapists, escorts etc. etc?

We've got potentially quite a long list here.

Doctors: about 6 specialists that DD1 sees regularly, though some more so than others and of course some have actively kept her alive/able to see/whatever whereas others have just taken notes.
Epilepsy nurse
Nursery: class teacher and 1:1, SALT, Physio, OT
Transport: different driver and escort on the way in and on the way out and I don't see how I can give the escorts prezzies and not the drivers

I make that .... 16 people to buy for [faint] and probably others I've forgotten.

Where are you drawing the line this year? And what are you getting them all?

it is such a huge list if they are in a special school

For Grace (NT) I have her Teacher and Classroom assistant a pressie

For Ellie in a special school I have to get around 1 Teacher a 7 assistants a present! Will just get them a big tin of posh biccies this year I think otherwise it just gets too much

reiver · 04/12/2006 15:00

Like you, anniebear I give a gift to class teacher & assistant. I also send something in for the staffroom, as so many people are involved. I try to send this one in early as they are often inundated with choccies etc in the final week and perhaps appreciate them even more before the end of term when energy is flagging. (You may guess that I was a teacher in a former life!)

Davros · 04/12/2006 19:13

I will do classroom staff (7), bus crew (3), headteacher, ABA/teaching supervisors (3), respite centre (2), play schemes (3) errrrrrrr

WINE!!

r3dh3d · 04/12/2006 19:42

So you are giving EIGHTEEN bottles of wine?

Mind you, they've all probably earned it, but what are the supermarket going to think of me?

OP posts:
Davros · 04/12/2006 19:48

I prolly won't give wine to all of those. Some will get tin of Celebrations to share or posh biccies. But most of them will get wine as you can get good deals if you buy enough (and there might be some left over heh heh). I have questioned staff I have become friendly with over the years and they all say that everyone prefers wine. If they don't drink they can take it somewhere with them as a gift. I am determined to keep it simple.

I've done Thorntons chocs this year

escorts + driver (3)
teacher + assistants (4)
box to share in school generally.

Will look at wine in future, also had ds2's school staff to buy for, so felt too poor for wine this year.

HOw do you decide between red and white?

theheadlessreindeer · 04/12/2006 21:19

Bubble bath for teachers, assistants and dinner ladies,
Mini xmas puds for driver and escort (blokes)
Also made some xmas cards with smiling face of DD3 on front. (Well I think she's gorgeous, surely they do too?!!)

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 04/12/2006 21:22

How about an Oxfam unwrapped present for groups of people? That's what I did this year and her very special 1-2-1 teacher got her own personalised present as well.

2000milestoeidsvold · 05/12/2006 00:47

I have 2 teachers, 4 aides, 2 swimming teachers....

I would have also had three to 4 therapists also but that has been such a balls up this year that she has had no real regular therapy and her most regular therapist left in Sept.

We have fab markets jsut up the road that do gorgeous handcrafts, natural soaps, aromatherapy stuff, candles etc.

So:

sn teacher - lovely candle in holder
sn teacher aide - soap box with three gorgeous soaps + gorgeous coffee mug as she is leaving
sn teacher aide - gorgeous beaded pen and notebook

mainstream kindy
teacher and aide - pottery dish with home made white choc and cranberry fudge
sn aide - gorgeous soaps in same pottery dish

swim teachers

dd1's teacher - gorgeous body serum and lovely citrus candle
dd2's teacher - three gorgeous handmade soaps.

spent roughly $10 each.

fudge works out a little cheaper but managed to pick up the pottery dishes in the chuck out bin at a pottery barn near us!!

can link to the recipe for white choc fudge or rocky road - choc treat

easy to make up a batch and it does tonnes - last year I just got bowls from our equivalent of wilkinsons and that was fine.

sphil · 05/12/2006 09:12

I'm doing wine too, but a local shop does pretty glass angel Xmas tree decs, so I'm going to get one for each of the main teachers (4 in our case) and hang it round bottle neck. Doing M+S choc biscuits (2 for £5 atm ) for rest.

DS1 is writing his own cards this year - at a rate of 4 per night - we may be some time ...

Davros · 05/12/2006 10:42

Oh, I ususally give something to the Soc Worker and LEA Officer . Luckily Soc Worker has just changed and I haven't met the new one but will give biccies (I saw that M&S offer to Sphil) or something. The list gets longer and longer..... Haven't even thought about family and friends yet

Pixel · 05/12/2006 13:09

I've got little notebooks with matching pens (quite sweet, handmade ones from a jewellery party I went to) for teacher and 3 assistants but eeek! I've just got ds's class photo and there appears to be an extra one. Will have to make discreet enquiries to find out if she is permanent. M&S chocolates for driver and escort and probably a tin of biscuits for general staff-room use so the OT etc have a chance of dipping in if they are around.

Pixel · 05/12/2006 13:10

I reckon most of those m&s chocs will end up in schools across the country .

Add to my list apples for the horse at RDA & box of posh biccies for the staff there.

r3dh3d · 05/12/2006 18:47

Maybe it's a good thing the waiting list for RDA is so long. And Hydrotherapy has been canned.

Social worker - good spot, Davros. And Team Around the Child Co-ordinator, who is (alas) excellent so I can't forget her. Oh chuffity chuff this is going to bankrupt me!

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 05/12/2006 21:26

I am a STA in a special school , in our class there is 8 staff, we usually receive a box of chocs to share, so don't feel you have to give to everyone individually, we don't expect it!

Harkthefubsyangelssing · 06/12/2006 20:51

As a therapist I dont expect pressies - if theres someone who has really made a difference that year, or who you feel very close to then maybe, but otherwise I think most people would be touched ifthey got a card!
