IEP / pathway plan reviews and setting

Should parents be involved with either the "here's how dc did against targets" or "let's set new targets" as I haven't seen any results in the past 2 years - yet I'm asked each term to sign off the new targets.....

Also a target from spring is on there. Is was dusted ( as in provision was withdrawn before end of spring term) yet two terms later.....it's still there

How do you review a IEP TWICE not notice it's finished and keep it on? What crosses the mind when staff fill out the progress made when it wasn't implemented in that term?

Anyone? Is it ok to not be shown progress? I have written on mine that I'm not included in the progress so I am no longer signed them off? Am I over thinking?

I'm certainly no expert but I'm sure you're supposed to be involved in setting the targets up.

How you supposed to agree when you don't know progress.

I've previously been left out but made a note when signing them.

5.43 of the new Code of Practice, if you need to get technical on them:

The effectiveness of the support and its impact on the child’s progress should be reviewed in line with the agreed date. The impact and quality of the support should be evaluated by the practitioner and the SENCO working with the child’s parents and taking into account the child’s views. They should agree any changes to the outcomes and support for the child in light of the child’s progress and development. Parents should have clear information about the impact of the support provided and be involved in planning next steps.

Fuck, pressed too soon - IEPs are no longer an official Thing, but the concept underpinning them still is - the phraseology you need here is Assess, Plan, Do, Review.

There's a clear obligation under SEN Code of Practice to involve parents in this cycle. For early years, look at 5:37 onwards. For schools, look at 6:44 to 6:56.

Thanks, it's a "pathway plan" now. Statements says "working closely with parents". I have written on the doc asking how he made progress with his jan / feb intervention targets in the summer term and how do they think he is going progress that target in this autumn term as it finished in Feb! Also that I can't sign them off as in three years I have only seen one with progress made on. They might as well say anything as how I do I know? Last time I was asked in was after I put a official complaint in April / May

Thanks for the code of practice. Where on his fith senco in three years. This one doesn't even reply to my questions (because that's the best way to deal with me - WRONG!!!) boy has she got a shock coming. I will return her favour and ignore her too. Let the tribunal sort her shit out.

Some days I really do feel like sticking my finger up and walking away from all this. Nothing ever changes, nor can it
