Ds started Y7 yesterday. First day was up and down. Today was brilliant and he made a friend.

Yay for friend Lazee Grin

Well ds is enjoying secondary - so he says.
They do a fantastic system IMO re homework and they are generally self directed tasks, under a given heading/outcome. Much better for ds who can do a PowerPoint/ film etc rather than a need to write copious amounts.

However, his English is to write a script and make a film. Film making is one of his 'special interests'. He's become totally obsessed engrossed in this one task. It's not due in until just before half term but he's already typed a script - some independent and some dictated to me. He's filmed the main characters (boys from street) and made the opening film of the characters including names on screen and background music. I have to say it's bloody brilliant!

But.... He's done his usual enter into it full force with his own ideas of how it will work and no plan of actually how it will work. He's struggling to get all the characters he needs together at the same time. This is causing meltdowns and tears and the usual his life is ruined. It's taking up his thoughts every waking second (and through the night).

I'm trying to help him but he just cannot/will not accept the rest of the world doesn't live to his timescale. Sad

Hi mums, you all sound like you're kids are well on the road...we are still looking for secondary school for Asd son -can you suggest places?

He is lovely - friendly enthusiastic but cognitively struggles and only just on level 2. In mainstream yr6 at mo with full statement but I can't find a school that fits him. We are in NW London but would consider all options even weekly boarding for a loving supportive place.

Going round in circles at mo and running out of time!
