Have just noticed there is a film about a nine year old boy who cracks a gov supercode.

Don't know if it's any good, but thought I would stick it on here anyway.

Channel 5 - 9pm - 11.15pm tonight.

it's an excellent film

Ooh, thanks fairydust, I shall give it a go. It's always interesting to see how accurate the acting is. Before dx of ds I watched Rainman and after the dx, I couldn't believe how many traits I recognised.

And.......in the news in the last few days they traced the person who started the latest microsoft virus.....turned out to be a 'lone' teenage lad who had (i quote) an "obsession with computers".....sounds very AS to me!!!

We had a discussion about this the other day at work. We agreed that a large majority of AS were responsible for pc viruses due to the nature of the syndrome.

Given that creating a virus is considered a way to show off your talents to prospective employers, it seems to makes sense.

I am sure that my brother has AS - though he would never speak to me again if I said this. He is now a highly paid computer programmer in the city and was himself a "lone" lad when he was younger...makes you wonder eh?

I think Mercury Rising is a good film and the boy's portrayal of autism is very good. Also it doesn't finish that Bruce Willis gets attached to him and he stops being autistic, its an OK ending. Wouldn't choose to watch it again though, once is enough for me! I've never seen RainMan as I hadn't seen it before my son was dxd so I'm not going to see it now. Did anyone see that Speilberg film AI? I thought "great, a Scifi film with Jude Law, Speilberg...." etc. I found it really upsetting though as it was basically about a boy who wanted to fit in but couldn't and didn't have the same emotional responses or ability to form relationships as other boys..... ugh!

yes i saw A1 and found it very 'sad' but i loved it all the same! And the Mercury film was great- and i too expected a mushy ending- Bruce adopting him and marrying the woman who let them sleep in her flat....but instead you saw the buy risking his own life (unaware of danger) and reaching for the gun and handing it to bruce....and symbolically moving away from stranger to friend! OOOOOH - i'm annylysing again! My husband got cross all through it as i kept tutting and sighing- he said it was fictitious etc- i asked him if he ever thought about 'real life'versions of fictitous films...he said NO!!!! (He has NO idea!!!!_)
