I've posted before regarding ds2 and his troubles at pre school. He's being assesed at the moment.

Today I spoke to his keyworker and she said that he's improved dramatically since he's been having cranial osteopathy. she can't believe the difference in him. We've noticed at home but he's calmer, patient, sharing, concentrating and more. I was walking on air when I left

I've found he's much easier at home and when I take him out.

that's great news about your ds2 juniper! A friend has started cranial osteopathy on her little son ( only 3 months old, has reflux) so for a different reason - but she also has had great results.

brill for your friend hana my mate's two had reflux for months, it's awful. Wish we'd known about this then

Excellent news juniper68. We had CO for a year or so, mostly because it was available and cheap via a charity. I thought it made no difference whatsoever to my DS apart from him allowing someone to touch his head so useful for haircut scenario. Maybe its less effective with more severe conditions?

hi juniper68. great news! my autistic son has CO too and we have also noticed big improvements.

juniper68 · 05/05/2004 14:15

I'm sorry it didn't help davros My son is 3.5, is he younger that yours?
I'm glad to hear it helped your son though rexandben.
I've been myself for sinus problems (plus other stuff) and it's soooo relaxing. I just wanted to go to sleep

My DS is now 8.5yrs but he had CO from about 5 or so for several months at a time for about a year and a half. It was combined with an aromatherapy massage which he much preferred and when it split into 2 different sessions with different therapists we opted for aromatherapy. Again I don't think it had any fundamental benefits but spin-offs like learning to relax, staying in one place, letting someone touch him etc. Also good practice for visiting the dentist!

Hmm Co had no affect on my autistic son either- although it helped my younger son with a cloggy puffy chest- and to sleep.

last time i went I took ds1 as well and I could tell the osteopath was dying to get his hands on him. He was very good with him and not phased by his odd behaviour at all so I've been thinking of giving it a go again- the CO said he would give us a reduced rate.

If it helps- even with the dentist- it may be worth a go- no-one has seen inside my son's mouth for about 2 years (drs and dentsists have been too scared to force the issue and when he ignores them when they say "ooh say ahhhh" they give up!)

My DD's hearing has improved since going to CO on a regular basis.

Loobie · 05/05/2004 19:08

We got good news today too,ds got a place in the autistic unit to begin in the next couple of weeks. We have fought for this place for almost 2 years and it has come at a perfect time as ds is failing so miserably in mainstream that i took himout and have been home ed him.But all that is in the past cause WE GOT OUR PLACE

KPB · 05/05/2004 19:17

Loobie - What excellent news!!! You must be over the moon. At last your ds will be in an environment that fully understands him.
The reason I know this is that my dd who has a language disorder was in a mainstream school for 6 months which was a nightmare. We accepted a place at the speech and language unit and haven't looked back since!!!!!!!

Congratulations Loobie!

How lovely, it's really encouraging to hear good news, and it must make dealing with the everyday stuff that much easier.
I got CO on ds when he was a new born because he was so clogged up and it did seem to have a definate effect. You have inspired me to go back and see what they make of him now. J

Lovely news Loobie, you've obviously worked long and hard and its all come good
