SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Not wanting to rehash the Active Convo issue, but if anyone would like to comment now it's been re-arranged for a few weeks...

I've started a thread here .

Would be interested to hear if SN topic users felt current arrangement much better than before... and if that's just because 'funny season' seems to be over, or if it's better than it's not in the general 'Active Convos / All Topics' IYSWIM.

no, in fact I've just noticed the 'include special needs' tab (was it there before? )

well for my tuppence-worth I think you should post wherever you feel like becuase

  1. its what I do .. (yes, indeedy the great almighty "I" as in "me" )

  2. I don't take any notice of the board name under active conversations I read the title and click in and if I know the OP then all the better .. I do notice the board but only after the fact so to speak

  3. I think the different categories are a bit of a non-sequitur if I'm honest

oh and 2 more points

  1. TC I miss you sweetie

  2. Blu .. "leg typical"? now am I allowed to snurk at that?

Blu · 12/11/2006 18:05

Twig - oh yes, 'leg typical' is very snurkable - as is it's acronym, LT.

Cappuccino · 12/11/2006 20:43

blu bizarrely I did read something on a website about ice-skating sessions which could be adapted for the disabled... I just haven't got my ass in gear to ring up about this yet

it does seem a little too good to be true...

dd has been ice skating and she was in a wheelchair. I was amazed(i didn't take her it was at respite) think she went to guildford.

Cappuccino · 13/11/2006 10:26

ooooh Blu isn't that good news!

see, the world is our oyster

Blu · 13/11/2006 12:38

Wow! That sounds brilliant (the ice skating) - I'd like to hear more about it!

We saw the outdoor skating at Greenwich last year, and Ds was interested - he walks independently, but one leg is 5cm longer than the other - we might try when it is very quiet, some time.

Blu · 13/11/2006 12:39

WEll, Guildford is your oyster, Cappucino!

2Shoes · 13/11/2006 15:20

Cappucino was only trying to be helpful

Blu · 13/11/2006 22:49

??

Don't understand, 2shoes.

2Shoes · 14/11/2006 08:43

it was the use of[hmm in the post
thought it was a sarky post
i must admit as i wasn't there don't know how they managed to do it. but thought people might be interested to know that you can go Ice skating even if you are in a wheelchait.

Blu · 14/11/2006 11:43

Oh, I thought you were saying that cappuccino was only trying to be helpful!

I thought the 'hmmm' was in the same vein as you wondering how it is done....and the answer is like this (scroll down slightly.)

Which just goes to show that I was making assumptions after all!!

Blu · 14/11/2006 11:49

Actually, if you Google 'wheelchair user ice skating' and click 'uk' options - LOADS of rinks have provision for wheelchair users on the ice, either in regular sesions (Gloucester) or in special sessions (Natural History Museum).

2Shoes · 14/11/2006 11:52

is to blame it just looks as if the person using it it is beeing sarky
