Special school run stress....

My son gets collected every morning by taxi for nursery and I go with him with my toddler daughter. We have to do it this way as he can't go on the school bus due to escorts not being trained to meet his medical needs. It works quite well as I didn't particularly want him going on the school bus as he is only 3 and half.
When there is a space the taxi driver will pull in however if there isn't he will stop in the road, I will strap one child in, he will strap the other one in, buggy and bags in boot, 1 minute I reckon, we do it as quickly as we can.

There is this man who comes down the road every morning in his car and seems to take great pleasure in getting annoyed if we are in the road, it has only happened once or twice in 3 months.

Today we were all in and driving down the road and he came straight at us when he could have let us go. We had to reverse to let him pass. I am in such a rush every morning trying to make sure we are in the taxi before he comes along, he is stressing me out.

Are we in the wrong? I get the feeling this man is looking for trouble, there is a road either side of our one that will get you to the same place if we bother him that much.

I know he probably has no idea that my son has special needs but regardless what happened to a bit of patience.

That must be really stressful for you but the driver is a selfish idiot.
What harm is a couple of minutes going to do to him? Just take the time you need.

I do sympathize. I remember the guy who shouted at the ambulance people who were dropping my dd off after a hydrotherapy session. She uses a wheelchair, the entrance to our house is tricky and we had been straight after school so she had lots of bags etc. The ambulance had to park in the road as it was too big for the space available. We live in a culdesac so the driver must have either been going home (though I didn't recognise him) or visiting someone in our street so it was unlikely to be an emergency.
Some people are just impatient and selfish.

Can you ask the council to provide a trained escort to travel in the taxi?

Thanks I have decided to take my time from now on and not worry about him too much. I am going to try and talk to him next time we come across him. Some people just don't have any patience, shouting at an ambulance driver ffs...
The council will be training escort staff in the near future apparently but to be honest I like to take him as I have seen 1 escort struggle to take 3 children into school at times and wouldn't trust them to look after my DS safely. (I have expressed my concerns about this to the school already)

Could you fit a dashcam in the taxi for your journey to capture this idiot's antics, then if it escalates, you have evidence.
