Help with accessing a full curriculum

Does anyone have trouble with their child's school not offering the entire curriculum to them? DS (8, and in Scotland) is currently in a split placement... 2 days Autism base, and 3 days 'mainstream' (he's actually in a base attached to the school). He has a SLD (genetic syndrome) & Autism. He is non-verbal, but uses P2G & does enjoy learning new things.

We were told in the last Child Plan mtg that he's in school for socialising. Yesterday we had another meeting with the area SN officer about transition. The Autism base is an early years centre, so he needs to move on to the mainstream school. The problem we're having is that they keep talking to us about him just going in for the activities he enjoys... like art, music, PE, outings, etc. DS hasn't expressed a preference for these particular classes, and has learned all his letters, colours, etc through more traditional learning.

Do we have any rights to request that he receives an education that continues to expose him to as many different areas as everyone else in his year? We've been struggling with this for many years, but with this transition looming, we really need to crack this! There are no other schools in our area which would be more suitable, and Home Ed really would be a last resort!
