So, I went to look at the potential other school for Dd3 and it is not going to be suitable. Dp and I have had a serious conversation about HE and think that we could do it from September for 2 yrs until she could go and do the Btec Music course that she wants to do!

My question is... if we go back to tribunal in May and win and get the statement is it then harder for us to de register her and are the rules different?

Hope someone can help Smile Confused

no not harder to de register - its if they are in a special school it is slightly more problematic - I was reading an article funny enough this morning about it.

would be worth getting the statement then you have it in place ready for if and when she ever wants to enter mainstream schooling again so you wont be starting from the beginning.

may now not that fair away with easter in the middle so it could be a viable option if you win the tribunal and also if you didn't you still have a plan to help her. my plan is quite similar to yours

Brilliant thanks bjk Smile

And also if we knew we were taking her out in July anyway we wouldnt worry so much about the bridge burning that will occur when the school see our new evidence!!

The LAEP has said she will help the SENCO to understand that none of this is personal but I dont think that will cut it when she realises how much evidence she has given us.

We are considering using that Manchester judgment as the school have shown us time and time again that they have no intention of putting effective support into place for Dd3 and some of her emails are damning!

The LA are still saying that the school should be spending £10000 on Dd3 before she needs a statement but they are deliberately not spending anything like that!

Senco had the perfect opportunity to put some one to one in for Dd3 this morning but once again she opted for removing Dd3 from a stressful situation rather than supporting her Hmm So more teaching time missed!

Am waiting for to hear what the indie EP wants to do baring in mind that the LA EP has opted to not do any academic assessments at all!

I dont know whether to jump up and down with excitement at their idiocy or whether to be very worried that they have a master plan!

OP posts:
bjkmummy · 19/03/2015 17:35

more likely idiocy isn't it - ive got that awful gut feeling today that my LA are up to something . spoke to class teacher today and she was gushing about amazing progress (but gave us no levels) still no IEP either and then mid meeting the sen officer who is ignoring us phoned her!

part of me thinks HE would be better so get out of all this nonsense but think I owe it to dd to at least fight the last battle and then walk away if needs be but its draining isn't it?

I still have no idea which secondary school the LA are going to pin their flag to so I can evidence gather against it

Ineedmorepatience · 19/03/2015 18:06

I hope it is idiocy although I wouldn't trust them further than I can throw them!

Dd3 was working towards a "so called" level 5a in geography last week and then miraculously had a test marked as a 6a!! They are actually making a mockery or their own system! No child can make a whole level of progress over night with no teaching, can they?? Confused

We just feel that even with a statement, if we win this school will never want to treat Dd3 as an individual and will never do anything other than what they are doing now!
They have won awards and are "outstanding" dontcha know!

bj I have just written a ton of stuff about refusing to name a school on this thread
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/special_needs_education/2335724-Lea-refuses-to-name-a-school-till-I-withdraw-appeal

Sorry not to personalise it for you

Ineed I think HE sounds a great idea. The more I see kids forced through the GCSE system it seems like shoving meat through a mincer to get a 'looks the same' product.

After GCSE they are let free and can blossom. That is a mixed metaphor, but I think trying to reconstruct the minced meat into a range of gourmet dishes would have been pushing the metaphor a bit far!

Ineedmorepatience · 20/03/2015 18:44

I love the meat through the mincer thing!! Thats exactly how I feel about Dd3's current school!

Her original school was the same (a dictatorship) and although Dd3 was able conform and mostly keep her head down, it made her desperately unhappy Sad

Our plan is to put her into a different environment for yr10-13 anyway so she will be able to continue flourish then.

I think it's a mixture of malice and incompetence.

The deadliest mix.

Ineedmorepatience · 21/03/2015 08:26

Yes I agree bjk the two are dangerous when put together and I have experienced both many times from my LA as I know you have from yours! Sad

don't know if you saw my other post ineed but I was right! we have been summonsed to a meeting on weds with sen officer and EP to discuss a way forward - EHCP now seems to have gone out of the window -will they now agree to our school placement - im guessing not so on it will go.

it just feels at the moment that nearly every LA is behaving so shockingly and our childrens lives are now just one huge game - no one cares anymore except us as parents . I got told the other day its okay to call dd weird and reduce her to tears cos she is getting confused - oh silly me for having a dd with asd and takes things literally !!! although the child was saying it in a mean way not as a compliment. if we lose this next one, im jumping over this mainstream train , I refuse to put her and myself through 5 years of this

Ineedmorepatience · 21/03/2015 09:33

I got forwarded an email last week from school where a teacher denied having said or done any of the things the at caused Dd3 to be too anxious to attend school!!

And of course no one questions him and hints that he must be lying!!

I am ready to give up now with or without a win at tribunal!!

'she was gushing about amazing progress'

We had that all the time. What they seemed to mean was 'your child is doing brilliantly for someone for whom we have rock bottom expectations and who if I don't gush about will most likely result in huge paperwork exercises and a reprimand from the HT'.

StarlightMcKenzee · 21/03/2015 12:41

Ineed Can you keep looking for schools? Our HE is a success but it is work like you wouldn't believe. There are always schools that you don't yet know about. Sometimes they are set up for just 8 kids in someone's attic by a SN teacher who became frustrated with the system. Sometimes they are big schools that you didn't consider previously due to reputation but when you view fit your child perfectly.

Ineedmorepatience · 21/03/2015 17:38

starlight yes I went to look at a school with only 3 pupils currently the other day and while it was lovely it felt like I would be paying 2 grand a term for someone else to HE Dd3 and with the privalige of a horrible cross city journey twice a day every day!!

We have an school in mind from yr 10 where she can do a course in the subject she is really interested in (I know interests can change but dont think this one will!

Dp and I have escaped this weekend and spent a long while today discussing HE again and I really think this is the way to go for now, to de stress her and get her back to how she can be in the holidays! Just getting her sleeping again would be amazing!

I think we can commit to doing this for 2 yrs and I think we owe it to Dd3 to give it a go, she has been trying to cope at school for yrs!

Obviously we need to speak to her before we make a final decision but I think I know what her answer will be!

OP posts:
StarlightMcKenzee · 21/03/2015 18:54

Well it sounds like you have a sound plan then. Good luck with it.

Ineedmorepatience · 21/03/2015 19:14

Thanks starlight it means a lot to know I have everyone on here for support! It is all of you that have given me the strength to get this far and to now be on the verge of making this decision for Dd3.

Thankyou all Flowers

Thanks polter you are right the 2 outstanding schools we have tried have been terrible at thinging outside the box!

I feel less stressed knowing we have a plan and that Dp agrees which he never did before.

We are havimg a nice time thanks although I was upset last night when Dd3 messaged me at 10.45 to say she was missing us Sad she clearly hadnt been able to tell her own sister that she was struggling!!

Never mind I am sure she will hold it together until we pick her up later, bless her!
