I hope someone can help please. My six year old DS2 is on the waiting list to see the paediatrician due to some of his behaviours. I already have an 11 year old DS1 with ASD. DS2 has started pooing in the bath and just lying in it without telling anyone. Does anyone have any experience of this and some advice?

I don't have any advice but my 6 year old has also done this, it used to be often but has lessened now, she is also under a pead for asd assessment, I think she does it because she feels relaxed in the bath? It's also happened when we go swimming :-(

A friend who had something similar had some big pictures which did the trick.

I agree that it might be the relaxed warmth of the bath, combined with a lack of distaste for poo! Some children with ASD have very poor awareness or control of there bodily needs. I used to put ds on the loo whilst I ran the bath and sang silly songs in the hope of solving that one, but ds was much older before he got it! Actually I think it may have been accidently showering him off with chilly water (the water suddenly went unexpectedly cold) that solved that one.

Dd used to do this. she suffered badly from constipation and the warm bath relaxed her. it stopped once we sorted the constipation (movicol).
