Do I hold the record? Had a meeting this afternoon at ds school to discuss his draft plan (CSP). First I heard about it was at 9:30 this morning when the ot phoned to see if she could meet with me after it. I hadn't heard anything so she phoned the school to check then came back to say it no it was professional's only. Half an hour later the deputy head was on the phone to say sorry but he had meant to invite me last week and send a copy of the draft! Angry Ds had a Paed appointment this morning so I finally got to see the draft 45 minutes before the meeting!! Unsurprisingly my Dh couldn't make it. There were 5 other people at this meeting too!

Bonkers.
If that is how they perform outside the class room, why are they surprised when we question what they are doing in the class room?

I get that they signed up to be teachers, and did not expect that to include being front line SEN providers, but you would hope that they could manage basic admin slightly better than that.

Sigh

Yes. Exactly. The LA rep started the meeting by saying she wanted to have the plan agreed today. I knocked that one down immediately by saying my dh would want to read it and have a chance to comment and I wasn't prepared to agree something at the meeting as I needed more time too. It was a good thing I was there though as despite only having half hour to read the draft i commented on nearly every line! Still not sure about the objectives but I didn't have enough knowledge to argue them (which is why I need more time).

Very annoyed at the OT as well; she put that my ds has dyspraxia and hyper mobility (presenting as hypotonia? Which she said he didn't have even though the neurologist said he did) and she hadn't discussed any of this with me first.Shock I've still not seen her report! It was not the place to discuss her assessment but the outcome of it forms part of the plan.

I know polter Confused. Meeting the ot on Friday so hopefully find out a bit more then but didn't want to get into that discussion in today's meeting. Got them to put a bit about poor endurance/fatigue for now. OT input still recognised but no OT goals yet. Apparently these are to be 'client driven' but this is difficult as DS (5) 'doesn't understand his difficulties'. Hmm

Ok, finally got a proper chance to look at our draft plan and if it a pile of poo. Angry now wondering if I will be heading back to the tribunal....

They sound rather adept at making it up as they go along.

The thing with hypotonia and hypermobility is that hypotonia can exacerbate the problems cause by hypermobility, as hypermobile joints rely on good muscle tone for support.

bilberry I feel 100% confident that you could write the document better than they can.
Do you have the time to do it?
If their level of competence is dropping then they may not have the strength to sort through your draft with the diligence that would be required to remove all of you quantification, specificity and targets....

If you don't have OT targets set by an OT then work some out for yourself from websites, your own observations etc

Good Luck

Thanks, yes I am planning on trying to rewrite some of this myself. To be honest, it couldn't be any worse. Once you get to the important bit (support required) what they have written could be just a normal unsupported Ms class with a five minute chat to a salt once a year! I sent a 'holding' email last night and popped my head round the HT door today. Apparently the form was written by the LA and while the HT didn't agree with my criticism she didn't disagree either which I take to mean she agrees but can't admit it!

I've been trying to find examples on the web but can't find any. I sent it to the solicitor we used (government funded) for the tribunal appeal (which the LA conceded) but haven't heard back yet. I may try IPSEA as even though they are not Scottish, I imagine it won't be too dissimilar to statements.
