I'm in agony ...

... dd refused to move when her transport came for her yesterday morning and it took the escort and myself to try and lift her. Little devil tooked both legs up and refused to take her own weight. We managed in the end to get her to stand up at the front door. She would not take her own weight beforehand though.

She was fine at school and good last night. Then went on the bus without any fuss at all this morning. I've woke up, however, with a very stiff neck and right shoulder and can't even iron. I'm walking around like bloody 'Robocop'.

It just shown me how easy it is to get injured when 'lifting and handling'. Please look after yourselves when lifting, especially as your child(ren) grow up.

Sorry to hear about your injury...sounds like you have pulled your muscles.
Ibuprofen might help and a good soak in a hot bath if you have the time.

Thanks girls -if I'd been going out to work it would have definately been a 'sickie'. I was thinking about making time for a bath. Stuff the housework, I can't do it anyway.

Did cross my mind that I've got RSI from using MN!

I hope you're in that bath by now, Dotee! I hope you start feeling less sore soon. xx

Did have that bath with a double helping of Virgin Vie muscle soak. Then DP put some Deep Heat on my shoulder (he has his uses )

I had to go out to book ds's party and I thought I was doing OK until I had to look right at T-junctions. I struggled reversing out of a parking space too.

I've taken 2 ibuprofens after tea and will take something else before going to bed. But it's still there.

One of the teachers at dd's school and myself are planning some events for Carers Week (14th - 20th) and we're asking an expert to come in and advise parents/carers on lifting and handling. I think I'll definately be attending that one.

See www.carersweek.org.uk for events happening in your area.
