Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Now isn't it a funny coincidence that the consultant sent the referral letter...

... two days after I had chased it up.

WHY couldn't she just write in her stupid bl*dy e/mail "The letter will go out within the next few days." Instead of patronizing me like she did.

I really don't need this on top of everything else.

sorry emkana, you need people who won't mess you about, not this.

Did you ever send those x-rays off?

emkana · 10/10/2006 10:28

No I didn't because I tried to be in denial about things for a while.
Am giving it some serious thought again though.

She may not have known, emkana. She 'only' dictates the letter, she has no control over when it's typed and sent out (it may have been pp'd, the ones I see usually are).

But good news that the letter has been sent, yes?

emkana · 10/10/2006 10:33

What's pp'd?

Bad news that it was never received at the other end, where I phoned because I wanted to make sure the appointment wouldn't clash with half-term when we'll hopefully be in Germany...

I saw the HV today.
Ds now weighs 18 lb 6, great news! And he's grown in length too.
She will write a referral to the physiotherapist, to the community paed and to the occupational therapist.
Very pleased about that.

pp'd is when an admin person types and signs the letter without the person it's theoretically from ever setting eyes on the physical letter itself (it'll either have been dictated by the theoretical sender or be a standard form letter). They write pp next to the name so the recipient knows that's what's happened.

You REALLY don't need the stress of having to mother the various consultants as well as DS, though. Have they resent the letter now?

emkana · 10/10/2006 13:33

Don't know, the secretary said she would phone the other secretary to get her to fax the letter

The HV will refer ds to the physiotherapist, community paed and to the occupational therapist, which I'm pleased about.

Just realized I had posted that already.

emkana, try to put it behind you. I know its not easy but at least you've got the letter. I don't know why some professionals just HAVE TO BE RIGHT, they aren't all like that.

PP means "per pro" and means "on behalf of" so the person signing should write pp next to the name of the person who wrote/dicated the letter NOT next to their own name. Lots of secs/PAs etc don't seem to know this (very old high horse!).

God - really sorry for using term pp emkana, hope that hasn't worried you today!
