"Bye Grandad, and remember, don't die when the plane crashes"

Ds waved my Dad off and said this through the window a few times. I thought Dad may not have heard as he's partially deaf, but he did.

It's at times like these when i remember that ds has AS. I tried to explain that what he said could have upset his Grandad, but it took a few attempts and i was trying to negotiate my way out of the sodding terminal carpark, so probably not the best of times!

Does anyone else have examples of when their children have uttered gems like this?

my DS was playing doctors with his white coat and stethoscope. he "listened" in to my Dad's heart and said "You dead, Grandpa - you live at Heaven now...."

bless 'em

Ds1 was straight to the point at the weekend. We were in a taxi and ds2 was refusing to wear a seatbelt. I was gently coaxing him by reminding him that Dora the bl**dy explorer, Boots the monkey and Diego all wear theirs.

Ds1 took a more direct approach and said, "If you don't wear it you will go through the window - and die."

I remember me back in the 50's - we were on holiday and my sister got knocked down by a taxi on the way to the chip shop (I think she was about 8/9 she was only shaken and brought back to where we were staying. My first question was 'is she dead?'

I was quite amused by the stories on mumsnet of various nt children being in floods of tears at that film about the penguins that was out last year - DS1 sat through it all in his usual Zen-like calm when watching any nature programme. Don't think it would ever occur to him to get upset about some animals dying!
