  1. can this only be bought from the States?

  2. anyone know anything about the online version- how it will work?

Cheers. I need to get it soon as ds1 is making such fast progress I will be colouring in boxes every day (which will cheer me up )

What is it jimjams?

taMummy · 08/10/2006 13:51

No idea what you're talking about but it sounds like there's some very good news buried in there somewhere

(tamum, btw)

It's a scoring sheet used in verbal behaviour programmes. We're not doing a VB programme as such, but its a good way to work out what needs to be worked on (and helps ensure you work on skills in a sensible order).

I think Growing Minds would provide it, but we're not starting the consultancy until early next year. I'll keep an eye on the online version and link to it if it looks interesting.

Yes, I need to know this too. Can you keep me posted JJ? I'd resigned myself to ordering it from the States but haven't got round to it yet. Have you tried posting on the GM discussion forum? You may have access to the private one now you've registered? But even on the public forum there are people posting from UK, though it's not very active.

Davros · 08/10/2006 20:48

Its a very good assessment tool. The support group I used to run has a copy in its library and the group may be disbanding....... I'll keep you both in mind if it becomes available. I think Different Roads is your best bet and probably worth coughing up for as you can't really buy it used! Photocopying is probably time consuming and expensive anyway (and prob illegal!).

Jimjams2 · 08/10/2006 20:50

keep an eye on this sphil. Also if you talk to GM this week could you ask them if they supply it. I think I should receive an info pack this week.

Depends if the PO nab you or not. I seem to have to pay customs on about 1 in every 10 parcels I get from outside the UK.

I'm impressed with the phrase "sentence construction". Sounds like she's doing really well

Will do JJ.
Socci - know just what you mean by 'growing into dx'. There were many times at 3 that we (and others) questioned DS2's autism - we certainly felt it was mild. Now at 4 there's no question, even though he's progressed in so many areas.

Jimjams2 · 09/10/2006 11:55

Yes ds1 did the same "he's defintiely not autistic" "he might be autistic but its so mild it won't cause a problem" "I can't believe that people haven't been helping you down the autism route" "he's somewhere on the autistic spectrum" "he's severely autistic" All said to us between the ages of 2-6.

Davros · 09/10/2006 18:25

Even we had that same path - possibly on autistic spectrum, autistic, severe autism + challenging behaviour
I truly believe that the more you teach them and help them progress the more behaviours like obesessions, repetitive behaviour, demonstrating their likes/dislikes (tantrums!) etc they develop. So its the old double-edge sword, more awareness and responsiveness but stronger reactions.
Jimjams, don't get the red clock thingy unless its a new one that makes a noise when it gets to 0. I thought that the NAS was selling those clock thingies btw. You should also look at that timer thing in GLTC or Urchin that has a traffic light effect.

Jimjams2 · 09/10/2006 20:49

oh really? I thought it might be good for keeping at the table (impulsive behaviours make him dash off some days, not others). I've seen the traffic light one will have another look. I have a feeling pyramid sell some clocks as well, haven't been orgnaised enough to check yet. Thanks for the tip!
