Delayed proposed statement due to no report from OT

Should have received proposed statement on 25th September however OT has not yet submitted her report. She is not responding to my emails any more.

This is so frustrating. We received a written action plan from her shortly after my DS saw her, can they not just use this action plan, surely her report will be a summary of this plan as she will not remember him.

Can I get a private OT report? would this be accepted?

Thanks for any advice Flowers

You can get a private report, but it would probably take some time and there is no guarantee the LA will accept it. Can you ask them to go ahead and issue the proposed statement on the basis that that still leaves them 8 weeks to deal with the OT report before they have to finalise it?

How long has she been unresponsive? Is it possible that she's off sick or away or on holiday and no-one has picked up her caseload?

OTs usually work as part of a group, could you ring the hospital where she is based and ask to speak to her superior?

You need to explain the circumstances and ask whoever will be issuing the statement if they would accept a private OT report, some do and some don't. In your situation, I'd want it in writing that they would accept it before I paid for one.

Thank you both for your advice.

The OT who saw my son only works on a Monday so if I don't get hold of her I am waiting a whole week before I can try again.

I haved phoned the Department and was told I could expect to be waiting a week for a return phone call!

Will look into whether they will accept a private OT report

Thanks Flowers

Is that an NHS OT? It seems ludicrous that children should have to wItvso long because she only works one day a week. It could be worth suggesting to the LA that they should instruct someone else, including a private OT if the NHS can't do better.

Yes NHS OT. I wouldn't mind its probably the service that has helped him the most and now they are letting him down.
