Just exactly that. I've only heard verbally so far. He's been awarded 20 hours support. He's year 4 and it's been one hell of a ride. Thank you to all you brilliant people for giving me somewhere to turn. No doubt this isn't the end. But for now. :-)

Thanks for all your comments. Mulling it over today and people with greater experience than me have told me to appeal it to be increased in hours. DS1 does need support at lunch and other break time so really he'd only be left with 12.5 hours for his education, SALT, OT etc. so only 2.5 hours a day.

feeling very selfish for thinking like this!!

also, if you appeal is there a chance they can reduce the hours already offered?

You're definitely not being selfish! Your child is entitled to adequate support, there is absolutely nothing selfish in fighting to get it.

They're highly unlikely to reduce what's already offered. The LA is saying that that's what they think DS needs so it would be difficult for them to say that actually he needs less.

I suggest you talk to someone like SOS SEN or IPSEA, or try to go to one of the workshops on appeals that SOS runs to find out more about the appeal process and the evidence you need.
