Ok so just back from ot who have said dd has sensory processing disorder. We are just waiting for the report to find out full assessment but she said just from the play in clinic about dd and proprioceptive part.

So does anyone know what happens now and what help if any there is? Also can anything be done in school and can i push for it if they are reluctant.

also is it something thats forever or just until dd finds way around it if you see what i mean.

Just background info - was private ot and we are seeing nhs paed in a few weeks. Teachers supportive senco not interested. Dd issues include jumping, crashing, chewing, touching, noises, behind at school cant retain info, cant sit still or focus. Cant social with peers and family etc. Have read all the info online and a book etc but still not sure i get all of it.

Presumably what happens now is that the OT gives you (and you can share with the school) activities and strategies that will support your dd.
A good school will then incorporate them into her IEP (or whatever your LA are now choosing to call her individual plan) and either make adjustments in the classroom, or take her out at various times to work on these activities, alongside you doing them at home.
Difficult to say what would help your dd without knowing her, but there are often adjustments that will be easy enough to do in class, if the OT is willing to explain them to the teacher.
