Receieved a letter this morning telling me that the LA have conceded and will be performing a statutory assessment!

Have to say I am relieved that we won't be going to tribunal next month.

Fingers crossed we get a statement.

Good luck! They refused assessment for our son when we applied. He got the statement and now has a placement in a specialist school. I hope you get everything you need for your dc x

Well done Smile Just one word of caution, make sure they stick to the correct timescales.

I've had a bit of a nightmare with my LA, because of the change of legislation.

Thanks all.

Is there a good guide with the timescales and process any where?

I know there will be visits/appointments, how many will take place in school? Bit worried about that part as she isn't in school much and will hopefully be away from there soon and in the PRU until we can find somewhere better for her.

under the old system now they have agreed to assess then you have done the first 6 weeks so to speak - as the whole process takes 26 weeks means should all be done and dusted in 20 weeks - if my memory is right gives them I think 10 weeks to assess, 2 weeks to decide then if statement issued 8 weeks to finalise - how it will go under the new system im not sure but do be careful of the timelines as my La tried to add on the first 6 weeks again until I assured them they were incorrect to do so!

My lea tried it on too. I had to complain to the big cheese. Just remover the 26 weeks. I think that starts from the day you initially requested the assessment
