Just filled in a form for adhd. I feel certain DS has this but school keep saying "while he has some difficulty we wouldn't have referred him as we have children with a lot more difficulties"

I feel he is intelligent but this masks the adhd. I feel like he is not achieving his full potential. Anyone managed to get a diagnoses of any SN without schools support?
Also hoping for any advice? Or good luck wishes.

If your child needs support, he needs support, totally irrelevant if there are worse children than him. I am sure there are but that is not an excuse to ignore your son's needs.

Good luck - are there two of you going - we found this helpful so we could take the child out of the room at points if we didn't want them to hear what we were saying.

Well doctor was going to give adhd meds then realised he hadn't had school report so phoned school where head teacher down played everything and cHms changed his mind Sad. Apperently my DS is very ahead in reading so apperently can't have adhd Hmm

How frustrating. Does the doctor have plans to observe him in school so he can make an independent judgement?

Spaceboundeminem · 09/10/2014 17:58

He did say that he will monitor further.
