My dd (11)has recently been transfered from mainstream to special school with a statement of sen.

Awaiting further assessments but ASD is strongly suspected by all professionals involved and they put her in a school for kids with ASD.

Because of them suggesting that she has ASD have been obsessively reading up on it - especially presentation in girls - hugh functioning like DD.

I think she does have ASD - she 'fits' so well with what the books are saying. But for that matter, so do I. I always knew I was different - never fitted in, anxiety, social struggles, total geek, obsessions, no friends...

But when I looked into these books, I see DD is a carbon copy of me.

Would you go to GP if this was you? I don't want them to think I'm jumping on the bandwaggon, but it fits.

Very confused and really would like some advice.

There is a thread running on the special needs chat board for adults who have Asd or who suspect they have.

There are lots of people on there who will be able to help Smile

Fwiw, I can identify with what you are saying, Hfa/aspergers was not recognised when I was a kid and when I suspected my 25yr old Dd had it I was pretty much told girls dont have Asd!!!
My youngest who is 11 was diagnosed at 9.

Good luck Smile

We assess adults and children in our service and we have certainly had cases like yours. The only stumbling block is getting the assessments on the NHS (we are private) but there is funding in some areas - you may be lucky.
