Extra support at school, how?

A bit of a long one I'm afraid, my DS is 6 and requires extra care at school and home, At school he requires the following:

To be watched when he eats (high risk of choking)
To have his NG Tube aspirated (is on feeds through the night but requires the tube venting regularly through the day)
For help at times if he has an accident (wears pull ups and has lack of bowel control)
Medicine given pre Lunch
Also a daily diary filled in through out the day

Now our school is a tiny mainstream village school, a very very good school too and they do everything that is needed without hesitation and help him and us 100% as much as they can. He has no behavior issues and is happily plodding along with his work (although due to illness he's slightly behind)

However, the school have asked if we can arrange for some extra funding so he can have some one on one help throughout the school day as obviously he needs quite a lot of extra help, they said I would just need a letter from one of his consultants to outline the extra care he needs and they can apply, it was quite a rushed conversation as we were in a hurry but I'd like to get the wheels in motion for them, so to speak. Does anyone have any idea what the process is?

I don't know the answer but I would suggest your first point of call should be your local parent partnership. Presumably you have a statement in place etc which outlines the care needed? It should be down to the LA to organise the funding.

Its not your job to arrange funding and it won't be as simple as getting a letter from the consultant either.
are you in England? Does your DS have a statement?
