for my elder son - he was last seen by an EP at age 5 or anyone medical for that matter - he is now 13 years old and in a special school and year 9 so inevitable that this would happen - his younger brother is year 6 but I will argue to defer his transfer as his was all won via tribunal and he is at an indie school.

so slightly nervous given that under the new plans we are meant to be seen as equal partners by a LA who cant stand us - cynic in me (and I know im reading far too much into this!!) rolled my eyes at the dates as its the morning after the day they have to respond to tribunal over my daughter - maybe their plan is to piss me off the day before so the next morning im mad as hell and they try and make me appear as unreasonable as possible to everyone else - my son is in an out of county school so school know nothing of the history or the tribunals. so it will be interesting to see what happens I guess and mean I best get printing off the new code of practice and read up on the transitional arrangements ie does it mean a re assessment? to be honest he could do with an new EP report as the last one so old and at last years AR they placed him on P scales

If you can bear it, you must try and delay reading the tribunal evidence until after your meeting, so as to not confuse the issue. The nonsense will be the same regardless of when you read it.

yes - it will be the reasons why they are opposing and who they are calling - its usually a load of rubbish - maybe im just being over cynical about the timing but with the history it wouldn't surprise me at all. what ive learnt is that if im happy and smiley that really freaks them out!

I guess its just one meeting of many as we go through the conversion process - I don't think for one second he is at risk of losing his statement and it is actually very wishy washy so they could do much to make it worse so hopefully it will actually be an improvement

I think it could be fun to go through all the stuff in the CoP highlighting all the bits emphasising how they must listen to parents and children, take their views fully into account, etc etc - and then beating the council over the heads with all that every time they ignore you.

As Veritata said, it's a great opportunity to be better read than they are, with a process they're not doubt not yet confident with. Time to perfect your Hmm (if the past 6 months hasn't done that already). You could even take a tone of patting them on the head and being ever so helpful.
