Having a few issues and basically DD 14 has a diagnosis however she is a complete jobs worth and does nothing to help DD.She is questioning her diagnosis so i thought if i describe the key things if people could say if they think this is typical of a child with a diagnosis or as SENCO thinks a teen kicking against authority(there fore she doesn't need to bother doing a bloody thing).
Very poor concentration ,doesn't remember instructions or directions unless 1 part step by step, VERY defiant ,no fear of authority or consequences and doesn't appear to respond well to rewards either!!, really struggles with academic subjects(between2-5 years below expected at age) ,no motivation , low self esteem , emotions very quick (from 0-100), misinterprets situations, quite paranoid, really struggles with spelling ,flits from one thing to another, disorganised, chaotic, VERY anxious ,loses everything and doesnt have any tact (as yet still hoping).
Just interested to hear what others would think?! At war with the school who just have her painted as some ASBO child when in fact she is a lovely sweet girl and compared to many her age is very child like still no issues with swearing, truanting ,boys or drinking ! I know MN isn't for diagnosis but I think its pretty obviously not "a naughty girl with a bad attitude".

"doesn't remember instructions or directions unless 1 part step by step,"

This bit sounds identical to my ds. He's been identified as having problems with his working memory. This would almost certainly have a knock-on effect in school lessons for your dd if no-one has been breaking down those instructions for her.

From the overall description, my guess would be ASD.

ADHD is her primary diagnosis she has APD also and traits of ODD and ASD .CAHMS say it is very common with ADHD to have traits of other disorders .SENCO appears very old school and i get the impression she thinks these disorders are something firm discipline cures . She is punished often for not concentrating then wonder why she doesn't respond to them with a positive attitude.

No statement as yet. I am awaiting a CAHMS appointment (been waiting forever!) . I was am a panicker and she has eating issues so my concern is the meds leaving her with an even smaller appetite. No i don't think shes in the right school but sadly no spaces in others and long waiting lists . She enjoys school for socialising but not much else. They have not got to know her and she has now had it with them . She can't see its herself shes punishing as she has the attitude "they don't like me so i won't work for them" as if she is punishing them. She does however excel in creative subjects and sports and has better relationships with those teachers. She was outraged when picking options that she couldn't drop maths ,science, english, languages and history !! She'd be much happier in art and sports all day but that won't happen anywhere .The more teachers clamp down the more she rebels so they clamp down harder then she goes beyond (recently crawling on the floor making odd noises or dancing and singing!) anything really to avoid doing what they want her to.
