First week back and have just had first run in of the year with the school senco,
my daughters annual review for her statement was delayed due to most of the sen team being made redundant in June last year, On Wednesday the first day things were going well it has gone down hill ever since. she is not and will not get any support in lessons for at least the next 2 weeks while they assess her and decide if she still needs the support.
During the holidays she was finally diagnosed with ASD as well as her already diagnosed social anxiety, for the last 2 days i have had a fight on my hands just getting her into school and she has only gone with the help of her big sister who has taken her to her first lesson, met her at break and lunch. Her key-worker from year 7 is no longer allowed to help her if she has a wobble or just needs some reassurance. i really don't know where to turn next.
not really sure what i'm asking here but i don't know which way to turn and what to do.
sorry for my rambling.... not sure how much fight i have left in me but i will cause i will do anything for my children

Oh gee, that is so bad!! Your Poor Dd Sad

What does her statement say in terms of support? Because that is what should be given unless the statement is changed at annual review!

I have been trying to get a statement for my Dd3 for partly the reason you have mentioned, I had been told that even if support was put into place for yr 7 without a statement it would be removed in yr 8.

And yet that has happened to your Dd even with a statement!!

Have you spoken to the officer who wrote the orriginal statement or was he/she made redundant?

I'm no expert but surely the school is not allowed to disregard the statement??

A delay in the annual review doesn't mean that the statement has 'run out'. It should continue until any changes have been agreed on.

the original statement was made in year 6 and came through august between year 6 and year 7. she is ment to have small group work and pre teaching and extra time to complete tasks. the list goes on.
The person who was there to support her for most of last year before being made redundant has been through her statement with me and told me what was in place when she was there and what wasn't even touched.
the new senco has since rang me to tell me that she will be in touch with a new date for her annual review at the beginning of next week.

I would start a new thread asking if schools are allowed to do this (I'm pretty sure they aren't). There are lots of people on here who know the rules and regulations inside out and who can tell you what you can do.

My understanding is that changes can be made at the annual review after consultation with parents and professionals. What they can't do is put everything on hold before an Annual Review and decide not to follow a legally-binding document just because it's more convenient for them.

Your dd is not a human guinea pig.
