Just had word that FIL passed away this morning - your time. I have to tell dh although I think he already knows by the message on his phone.

thanks for all your messages. Dh off next week for 10 days for the funeral and such. Can't believe it was just last school holidays that we found out and he went off to see his dad and now he is gone. Feel sad for the girls and the babe to come but know we will make sure they know who grandad is.

Eidsvold so sorry to hear your news. Sending you all my sympathies and best wishes for you and your family. I hope that your wonderful memories of FIL will help you and your DH through a difficult time.

eidsvold · 22/09/2006 03:33

thanks all..... makes me well up when I read all your messages. I know dh knows it has happened but I don't think it will really hit until he gets to the UK.

Am trying to think of something to write to FIL from me and the girls - if we can't be there in person perhaps we can get dh to share something from us to the family.

eidsvold I had to do that for my Nana as I couldn't get to the funeral either. My card just read. You were always a large part of our lives and you will be in our thoughts forever. I'm sure you can probably find a poem which can express far better than me what you all feel and no doubt some other Mnetter will be along with something similar. I know it must be really hard for you all at the moment especially with DH being so far from home. I think of it too as my parents are getting older and are in the UK. It's never easy is it.
