Mrs F, an update on the friends after tea, as promised. Dd went tonight after school, I dropped her off. There were 2 other friends from school going as well. As I was dropping her off explained to the mum that I felt anxious as hadn't left dd with anyone but my mum or mil. She reassured me not to worry and would phone if there were any problems. As I said before and knew I would I sat by the phone waiting for it to ring - thankfully it didn't!!! Picked dd up at 5.30 but ended up staying until nearly 7 as dd was happily playing in the garden with her friends. Dd had been fine, ate all her dinner and was basically playing with her friends. It is such a huge milestone for me, I am going to have a huge glass of wine to celebrate. I would still be choosy about who dd went home with though! Her friends mum was just so lovely and understanding and it makes a big difference.

That's so good to hear. It sounds as though she had a really good time. You must be over the moon.

Congrats to both of you - you being brave & dd - well, sounds as if she was in her element!

It was such a hard decision to make but I had to bite the bullet and give dd the opportunity. As they say nothing ventured nothing gained! It was very nerve wracking though I must admit!!! Thanks for all of your lovely comments :0

That is so wonderful- and sounds like it did you the world of good too- i expect you found loads to talk about- and to see your daughter having a graet time too must have had you smiling all evening too!
I bet you kept telling her 'how special and proud you were' of how well she got on!

It was so lovely seeing her playing with her friends and they were pretending to have a picnic. Dd just seemed dare I say it "normal" (whatever that means?). It was such a contrast to when dd was about 3 when she barely approached other children, don't think she knew how! Thanks again for all of your sweet comments!
