I suspect DD3 may have mild Aspergers but what should I do?

She is 14 now and I just have that feeling because she ticks some boxes and there has always been just "something" but when I say outloud what the issues are it just sounds silly. But I want to do what's right for her and feel I should do something but what, I don't know. Feeling confused and wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I have done a search on girls and Aspergers but just feel bogged down!

Nigella - this thread was very useful to me before DS1 was diagnosed.

Polter - that's good Smile.

not wanting to bump up a sleepy thread particularly but had to say thanks ToffeeWhirl - I have read and read that thread. Very useful indeed! I'm waiting for a call from Daphne Keen's secretary having left a message Friday - feel like phoning again as I feel I have the bit between my teeth now but I must remind myself to be patient!

Oh good, I'm glad that link was helpful. It made a difference to me to read some of those comments at the time.

Yes, you'll need to be a bit patient with Dr Keen's secretary. I had to wait a few weeks for a reply and I think I ended up phoning and emailing a few times, but never more than about once a week. Once the secretary phoned me, she was lovely and helpful and we were able to see Dr Keen within about a month.

Dr Keen is the only professional I have ever seen who really, really 'got' my son's difficulties. The professionals at CAMHS said he had 'autistic traits', but wasn't diagnosable, which had all sorts of adverse consequences (not being able to place him in an appropriate school, for one). Dr Keen said he was absolutely diagnosable and 'not borderline'.

Please let us know what happens. Good luck.
