Travel insurance - chromosome deletion, GDD, hypermobility, hypotonia

My son has a chromosome deletion that we can only assume has caused his hypotonia and hypermobility, which in turn has led to GDD and lack of speech. He is now (2.5yo) fully mobile although tires easily and so the only real difficulty/difference he has is no speech.

Do I need to declare any of this when buying travel insurance as none of it really affects his health?

My only worry would be if he happened to trip and fall and break a bone (although not done this before), would we then be denied help because we didn't declare he had hypotonia/hypermobility etc

If we did declare it how would it affect the cost?

thanks if anyone can help or advise

Hi,

I would declare everything if I were you as although they don't affect his health, if anything happens and you need the insurance, you don't want to leave any loopholes for them to wriggle out of.

My son also has a rare chromosome condition, GDD, SPD, multi cystic kidney, heart problems, reflux.....the list goes on but I found goodtogoinsurance really fair on price. The specialise in insurance for people with existing conditions.

Thanks, I'll have a look at them

Yes I second inchstone, declare everything. The presumption with insurance is that you have given all information - they don't need to ask. They could wriggle out of a claim for even something unrelated to his condition as they would just say the whole lot was void.

I know you're right...will go ahead and declare it all and pay whatever it costs! thanks both
