Hi

DS is severely language delayed and has a diagnosis of ASD.

DS has a fear for a lot of things. i.e. Won't go near anything that is hot, sharp or danger- like, for example a hot mug of hot chocolate, he would repeatedly touch the cup to see if it has cooled down.

He loves cutting up things with scissors, but no-way would he allow me to cut his hair with scissors, only when it comes to nails.

So decided to take DS to barbers for the first time. As I do not do a good job of it. When we did go to the hairdresser, I expected for him to throw a big tantrum. But to my surprise it went really well! DS was compliant, he didn't mind the fact that the hairdresser used clippers, which I have never think to use before. He did have my phone incase he got fidgety. But he was as good as gold! I did have to warn the hairdresser not to let DS see the blade that they use to fine edges of the hair. But, I'm so pleased! Grin

Well done Adrianna's ds ??

My ds can not stand scissors but will now let me use clippers. Still a massive drama with screaming, snot and tears.
But at least a hair cut doesn't take three traumatizing days anymore ??

Well done to both of you!

Haircuts a thing of trauma here too.

Well done! Smile

We have haircut trauma too. It is the falling hair my ds doesn't like, he is terrified of it touching him. We manage bits of cuts with me following the scissors catching it in my hands!
