... That is part of the ABA tutor qualifications our school is after(among other things). Is it like a few days course or something else?

You dont have to cover much SEN stuff to get an NVQ 3 unless you are actually working with a child with SEN while you are being assessed and even then you wouldnt need indepth knowledge.

A higher lever TA is exactly that, it is someone who has completed an HLTA course which is equivellent to a level 4.

Someone with these qualifications may or may not know anything about ABA!

Hope that helps Smile

Ooops, meant to say, a level 3 course takes around 8 months minimum to complete, dont know about the level 4 though sorry :-)

so the current tutors who have psycology degrees dont qualify for this role because they dont have NVQ level 3?

Sounds utterly bonkers to me salandon but I expect it will be down to funding or them already having someone in mind for the job!!

My limited experience tells me that schools know zilch about ABA!!

billiejeanbob · 02/07/2014 22:08

are you sure that the school are actually looking to recruit an ABA tutor? sounds like they are looking for a TA or HLTA (who wouldnt be ABA qualified).

salondon · 02/07/2014 22:28

this is one of the qualifications(the other is that they must be trained by a bcba- i suppose to cover the workshops)

the experience says 2 yrs of aba
