now ds1 has got over his flicking the computer on and off compulsion I have re-discovered the intellikeys. The operating software has been updated and is easier to use, and there are loads of programs (lots for SN) on the intellikeys exchange.

Just wanted to recommend it to others. here . If you type intellikeys exchange you should find their free database of activities (lots on there are switch accessible as well).

Morning JimJams. Just been looking through. Paerhaps I'm looking in wrong place but are all the programmes for slightly older children? Can't seem to find a very basic sort of pre-school programme, am I wrong?

Sorry, ignore me. My computer denied me access to certain pages before for some reason but am in now.
They look good. Not sure I can afford it right now. £45 a pop. Anyone you'd strongly reccomend though as there's lots to it etc, real value for money in other words?

The keybpard is more TC- 250 quidish (but the sort of thing charities etc will fund- the LEA paid for ds1 to have one when he was at mainstream), but the activities in the activity exchange are free (although you would need extra standard software- overlay maker- and intellitools classroom suite to get most of the free actiivities to work- again the LEA might be willing to fund that).

oh okay. So it's something I should show to her school with a pleading look in my eye?
Ok, thanks for that

MrsFio · 11/09/2006 08:23

is there something in particular I should be looking for? It came up with LOADS

dd uses clicker at school and 2shoes kindly copied me a version of clicker5, is it similar?

It's an actual keyboard- but you can change the front of the keyboard (you print out overlays) so for example when ds1 was younger II had an overlay with lots of different coloured spots on it. the (free) program (I downloaded from the exchange) would run and say "touch the blue circle". If he did then he'd get a fanfare of music. That's a simple game, but there are lots more on there, or you can make up your own. I want to see if I can make up one where if he touches a word on the keyboard (say his name) then a relevant photo comes up (photo of him!).

If your child has good keyboard/mouse skills and can access lots of normal software then you don't really need it,

no she doesnt, it sounds ideal really

the photo things sounds great

Jimjams2 · 11/09/2006 11:46

oooh it is fantastic...... really you need the keyboard, classroom suite and overlay maker to get full use- which nis approaching 500 quid. Sort of thing that charities do like to fund though, have a search around...... rotary club maybe?
